Support Emergency Relief Activation in Venezuela with World Central Kitchen

Two powerful earthquakes struck north-central Venezuela on Wednesday June 24th, 2026, in the evening. The first earthquake struck at a 7.2 magnitude, with the second 7.5 magnitude earthquake compounding damage less than a minute later.

Building collapsed, power and hospitals were disrupted and a state of emergency was declared.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA), this disaster adds to an already deep crisis:

7.9 million people across Venezuela needed humanitarian support at the start of 2026, driven by economic stagnation, inflation, and strained public services. The country also continues to navigate complex economic and political developments which are affecting vulnerable people’s needs (UN OCHA, June 25th, 2026).

The situation is rapidly evolving. As of June 28th:

  • the number of people killed had risen to 1,450,
  • more than 3,150 people have been injured,
  • 12,700 people have been displaced,
  • 2,500 structures and facilities (including 38 hospitals and more than 770 buildings) have been affected.

World Central Kitchen is partnering with trusted locals partners to deliver meals to communities in need as they begin their road to recovery.

All donations received from June 25 onwards through this Fund will be exclusively directed to the relief efforts in Venezuela.

Context

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is first to the frontlines, providing fresh meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises.

When disaster strikes, hungry people cannot wait until tomorrow or next week – the urgent need is now.

A warm meal, tailored to the cultural values and recipes of the local community, brings more than nutrition and calories. It offers hope, dignity, and the reassurance that communities are not alone during times of crises. 

Donations to this fund will be used to serve fresh, comforting meals to communities in crisis.

Goals

Get food directly and rapidly to communities impacted by crises worldwide, while also supporting  local livelihoods, businesses, and economies.

Activities

  • Serve fresh, nourishing meals to support communities impacted by climate, humanitarian, and community crises;
  • Work side by side with local vendors, volunteers, restaurants, and community organizations to invest resources back into crisis-afflicted areas; and
  • Provide comfort and hope when needed the most, with a focus on empathy, dignity, and adapting to meet communities’ needs.

Myriad Canada is working with World Central Kitchen on this project. WCK is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines, providing fresh meals in response to crises. Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, their model of taking quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time has enabled WCK to serve hundreds of millions of nourishing, chef-prepared meals around the world.

Myriad Canada’s role is to carry out charitable projects across the globe in accordance with its charitable purposes.
