Context

Hurricane Dorian in 2019, the most powerful storm ever to strike The Bahamas, left local communities struggling to recover and rebuild. The storm destroyed homes, displaced families, and crippled essential infrastructure, leaving lasting social and economic scars. Years later, many residents still struggle with inadequate housing, limited access to safe community spaces, and fragile support systems.

The problem is two-fold:

– Vulnerable communities in Abaco continue to face challenges in rebuilding safe housing and community infrastructure, leaving them exposed to future climate-related disasters.

– Beyond physical rebuilding, residents—especially youth—lack consistent access to educational and economic opportunities that foster long-term resilience and stability.

Goals

This project aims to provide support to and strengthen local communities in the Bahamas.

Activities

Activities may include:

– Support food security and sustainable livelihoods;

– Provide resources and opportunities to strengthen education;

– Strengthen community health and well-being.
