Globally, there are nearly 50 million victims of trafficking, and for those perpetrating this crime, the risk is low while the rewards are high. Modern-day slavery is more pervasive than ever, yet it often goes unnoticed due to its concealed nature, allowing the crime to thrive. Slavery is prevalent in almost every country, making it the fastest-growing crime worldwide. Individuals are compelled, coerced, or inadequately compensated for their physical labor, with instances commonly observed in industries such as factories, agriculture, construction, nail bars, and hand car washes.

Prevent human trafficking/re-trafficking by helping victims, prosecuting traffickers and creating resources to define the most effective ways of prevention.

Activities may include:

  • Provide holistic aftercare to victims of human trafficking;
  • Act as liaison/trusted bridge between law enforcement and survivors in trafficking cases;
  • Conduct human trafficking prevention.

Myriad Canada is working with Justice and Care on this project, a nonprofit profit organization based in England that aims to prevent, tackle and eliminate all forms of violation of human rights and to relieve suffering caused thereby in such parts of the world, to advance education and other means to raise public awareness through the research of the causes and effects of human rights abuses and to disseminate the useful results thereof. Justice and Care has almost 15 years of extensive experience. They began work in India and have since taken their model to the UK, mainland Europe and Bangladesh. Their work has resulted in more than 5,100 people rescued from exploitation and 4,300 plus survivors being given extensive help to rebuild their lives. They have provided prevention advice to 1.3 million vulnerable people and trained 54,000 frontline professionals in victim identification and support.

Myriad Canada’s role is to carry out charitable activities across the globe in accordance with its charitable purposes. We control and monitor the use of funds and the progress of charitable activities to ensure that donations made to Myriad Canada have the greatest impact in accordance with donors’ expressed wishes.
