The inaugural Lundin Cancer Fund Charity Gala, a remarkable event dedicated to raise vital funds needed for brain cancer research and support, will take place on Thursday, June 20, 2024 in Vancouver.
The Lundin Cancer Fund: Funding the very best in brain cancer research
The Lundin Cancer Fund was created in honor of Mr. Lukas Lundin, who died from glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer, in 2022. Mr. Lukas Lundin was head of the Lundin Group of Companies, a leading force in the mining, oil and gas industries. Entrepreneurial and always adventurous, he was passionate about the resource industry and its power to transform lives. During the course of his illness, it was recognized that there was a considerable lack of awareness and treatment of various types of cancers, particularly brain cancers, as well as a lack of funding for clinical trials and new innovative research. He and his family wanted to change that.
To fund brain and other cancer treatment and research, Mr. Lundin’s four sons and Myriad Canada established the Lundin Cancer Fund at Myriad Canada. This Fund aims to finance the very best brain in cancer research and treatment globally, and to encourage international collaboration and sharing of scientific data.
The Gala
The Gala promises to be an unforgettable evening filled with elegance, entertainment, and most importantly, the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer. In this regard, the Lundin Family has generously pledged to match all donations, dollar for dollar, to this cause!
This event will highlight Jack and Will Lundin’s successful ascent of Mount Everest in May 2023, the apex achievement of “Project No Limit”, the campaign to raise awareness and funds for glioblastoma research and the Lundin Cancer Fund. The climb has already raised CAD 1 million for the mission.
The evening will include a cocktail reception, a red carpet photo shoot, the installation of Mount Everest Base Camp, a guest speaker and an exciting auction.
