Context
The sport of ski racing requires a great deal of dedication. The training starts at a relatively young age and demands a great deal of time and financial resources. At the same time, athletes should also be working on receiving an education. Therefore, there is a need for ski academies that focus on combining top level training with college preparation level academics.
Unfortunately, in the United States, ski racing is not state sponsored. The considerable cost for the training and education is privately funded. The financial need is considerable and thus creates the need for scholarships and financial aid.
Goals & Activities
- Provide scholarships/financial aid to student-athletes in financial need.
- Provide student-athletes in financial need with a top-level college preparatory high school education that includes respect for individuals and community involvement.
Myriad Canada is working with Mt. Manfield Academy on this project, a nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to operate a private school for alpine ski racers and offering a year-round school program. Mt. Mansfield Academy excels in providing a high school education at a college preparatory level and has nationally renowned racing coaching.
Myriad Canada’s role is to carry out charitable activities across the globe in accordance with its charitable purposes. We control and monitor the use of funds and the progress of charitable activities to ensure that donations made to Myriad Canada have the greatest impact in accordance with donors’ expressed wishes. As a member of the Myriad Alliance with offices in Canada, the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, Myriad Canada has a vast international network and extensive practical expertise.
