Goals
The goal of this project is to expand and strengthen the mental health support system available to students at the Open University of Israel (OUI) through the Eitan Center, an on-campus center that provides comprehensive support to students facing disabilities or personal challenges.
Activities
Activities of this project may include:
- Providing direct mental health support to students in need;
- Strengthening the capacity of the Eitan Center staff;
- Ensuring the effectiveness and long-term sustainability of mental health support services at the university.
Myriad Canada is working with the Open University of Israel (OUI) on this project, an institution of higher education founded in 1974 aspiring to the highest standard of teaching and research while upholding the principles of academic freedom, freedom of opinion and freedom of conscience.
The OUI serves a diverse student population, many of whom balance studies with work, family, or health challenges. Through individualized guidance, workshops, and accessibility services, the Eitan Center currently supports over 1,000 students with disabilities or personal difficulties. In the past two years, student inquiries have surged to over 4,000, reflecting growing needs related to trauma, grief, and emotional stress. With existing services already stretched to their limits, this project is essential to ensure that every student can access the mental health support they need to thrive.
Myriad Canada’s role is to carry out charitable activities across the globe in accordance with its charitable purposes. We control and monitor the use of funds and the progress of charitable activities to ensure that donations made to Myriad Canada have the greatest impact in accordance with donors’ expressed wishes. As a member of the Myriad Alliance with offices in Canada, the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, Myriad Canada has a vast international network and extensive practical expertise.
