In memory of Wally Bamford

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Wally Bamford’s passing. After battling cancer for the tenth time, Wally passed away at 93 years old on September 10th, 2025. As the first Canadian President of the MTI- Metal Treating Institute, he made a generous donation of CAD $1.5M to Myriad Canada in order to set-up a Scholarship Fund, which will train the next generation of Heat Treat professionals. A Niagara Falls local, Mr. Bamford was a retiree from Can-Eng Furnaces, a longtime member of the Metal Treating Institute located in Niagara Falls, Canada. He was an extraordinary man, brilliant entrepreneur, and true philanthropist who will be remembered for his wit, altruism, and dedication to education. His generosity has so far supported 31 students in their academic careers and will help many more future engineers for years to come.  We are honoured to carry out his legacy and support many students in his name.
